First, get a portfolio of black and whites and a few colored photos!. you can have a friend take some even though they are not professionally done!.
As long as the features and the talent for modelling is visible, that will do!.Even if the photos are professionally done and the person doesn't have what it takes, they don't stand a chance!.

When a person decides to interview you, he sees you in real life and that is what counts!. If the person tells you that he will go over your portfolio, move on and don't leave your portfolio!.

I interview models and I have to be honest with them!. If they have a slight potential, the agency pays for the courses so , don't worry about the shoots!. Don't worry about taking lessons!. You learn while the shoot is going on!.

The photographers usually dictates how to sit, which side to use (we all have a good and bad side of the face!.)

Brief, take good shots of the left or right side of the face!. When we shoot models, always notice that thy are never looking straight at the camera but from an angle!.

Definitely take modelling classes and find an agent or agency, to assist you in the right direction!. Its not an easy road, and lots of shady people in the business who promise lots and return little, taking advantage of your innocence towards the industry and process!. Get your self a professional portfolio, and watch they dont try to rip you off there too, some really overcharge a portfolio!. A good starter package should cost no more than $100-150!.

Take a look at some of the modelling sites online, and join models forums for tips and advice!.

Go to open casting calls in your area for modeling agencies
they ususally come to larger cities

go and if your right to model they will hire you if not then i guess you have to go to college!
