I recommend the SB800!. I have 5 of these!. They're also releasing the SB900 soon but you probably don't need that!. If you can, you might want to wait until the release since the price might drop for the SB800!. The release date is Aug 8!.

Since you have a Nikon camera, you should get one of
Nikon's Speedlights, If you go off From nikon, the warranty
will be shot, that's why you always buy from Nikon:

This would be the best one: It's the SB-800

Or, The SB-600:

both are nice Nikon products, any more questions!?
you can just email me, i'd love to help you out, lol!.

I have to join the SB 800 fan club!. I have had great results with mine!. And the Nikon Creative flash system lets you add other speed lights as needed!. There is a new SB 900 that's supposed to be even better but I've not used one and I have trouble imagining short of it having a longer range for zoom lenses, and letting you set it for Fx vs Dx sensors what it could do better

Mike is right !.!.!. buying a Nikon SB external flash will give you the most flexibility !.!.!. There are a couple of less expensive units your camera can use: They are the SB400 and SB600!. You may want to go into a camera store an look at each and see which will do what you want at the most economical price!.

I have great success with the SB 600 on my D80!.

But, depending on your needs, the extra performance and power of the 800 or 900 might be worth the extra $!.

If, for example, you're shooting weddings and plan to get into that professionally, by all means, get the 800 or 900!. You need all the power and versatility you can get!

But, again, my 600/D80 combo is great for me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It just depends if you want to do it automatic or manual, for automatic you could spend $300!.00 or for manual you can get by with $10!.00 from ebay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just bought the SB800 for my D80!. It costs a pretty penny but it was worth it because I'll never need to upgrade! Good luck =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
