Question: How to design cd cover
so, I'm designing a cd album cover for a musician friend of mine and i've done some posters for him too and i've always done them on photoshop but for his cd disign, he wants me to do it in colored pencils
in the end, i will have to make it digital so i can send it off to the cd manufacturing company!. so my question is should i draw it much bigger than it should be and shrink it later!? and also, do you think using colored pencils is a good idea for a album design!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because the drawing is going to be digitally scanned pencils would not be a good idea unless you are a genius at blending otherwise the lines of coloring will show up very clearly making even the greatest piece of art look somewhat amateur!. If you're friend is really pushing on having it hand colored I would advise you to invest in some proper blending markers such as Letraset http://www!.letraset!.com/ which look great when you scan them!. also make the image bigger than the cd cover is going to be so none of the detail is lost when they're resizing it!. It depends what its going to be!. if its going to have a lot of shading and stuff then i would use a high grade colour pencil, if its more solid i would use marker or photoshop!. I would DEF make it bigger so you have less room for error!. the smaller it is, the smaller you have to draw, and the harder it is to get detail in!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you should always make your pictures bigger! That way, you have more room to work with, and then you can edit the size!. As for making a cd cover out of color pencils, I'm not too sure!. It can depend on the music, and what your drawing will be!. I preferably use photoshop or illustrator!. It will most likely give you a professional and clean look!. Have you tried a wacom tablet!? Personally, I would do my best to design it on photoshop!. Like I said, it really depends on what it is!. Good luck :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
