Question: The 50mm 1!.8 for $75

I hear about the canon 50mm 1!.8 being $75 and the cheapest I have seen it has been on amazon for $89!.00!. What is the best place to purchase it and get the best deal!?
Don't want to go on Ebay, would prefer a new one since it is built so fragile!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've been a professional photographer shooting with Canon for over 25 years!. The 50mm 1!.8 is often called "The plastic fantastic"!. It isn't as well built as Canon's professional line!. However, it is one if the sharpest lenses Canon makes and is a huge bargain under $100!. The 50mm 1!.4 is the mid level version!. Slightly better made and a tad more light but it does not give you a better picture than the 1!.8!.

The top line Canon 50mm is the 1!.2L!. It is crazy expensive but it's built like a tank and gives you the best image quality possible!.

What does all this mean!? Where do you take pictures at!? War zone!? Riots or severe weather!? If so buy top quality or your lens will fall apart!. If you are a hobby photographer and take care of your equipment the 50mm 1!.8 will do just fine!.

Why do you think any Canon lens is built "fragile"!?

These lenses are made to be used by professionals and we are NOT easy on our equipment !.!.!. true we take care of it, but shooting hundreds of thousands of photographs a year is not unusual!.

My thought is that the price you heard about was a gray market lens!. Any Canon lens will be sturdy and can handle any normal hard use!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Cheap In Cost, Not in Value!.

this lens is used by amateurs and professionals alike!. Anyone can use this lens, it ones of their sharpest lenses!. i don't think it's that cheap, i think it's gone up a bit, i'm almost sure, it's around 90$!.
This is a really nice lens, Nikkor's 50mm f/1!.8 is practically the same, minus the aperture ring!.
