Question: Framing pictures!?
When framing large photos (20"x30") on a wood frame made for a 20x30 print with a glass pane is it acceptable if the picture surface is pressed against the glass!? Or, is there suppose to be some buffer (with matte or another material) so that the picture doesn't stick to the glass because of humidity!? What if matte is out of the question, what procautions should be taken to prevent the photo from sticking to the glass!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to use a mat!. If you prefer not to you can use a spacer; any frame shop has them!. You will need to have the picture mounted on foam core or other rigid mounting surface to use a spacer!. If you are framing it yourself you can mount it on foam core using spray glue!. Spray the board, and the back of the photo and let them dry, then carefully line up one edge and smooth the print down carefully!. You can make your own spacer by cutting very narrow strips of foam core and line the inside of the frame behind the glass!. Glue the strips in place!. Black foam core works well for this because it doesn't show as much!. Matt finish photo paper is less likely than glossy to stick to glass, but can still be damaged by condensation on the inside of the glass!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
