Question: What type of art is this, where can I get the supplies!?
In a high school art class (about 6 years ago) we made these things where we carved into a pad with exacto knives and other little carving/cutting utilities!. The pad seemed to have a rubbery, eraser like texture and was not difficult to cut into at all!. I would say you could cut into the pad about 1/8" to 1/4" of an inch deep!.

The idea was to make a big stamp out of it and then stamp a piece of paper!. I ended up thinking the pad itself was much cooler and painted it different colors and such!.

I was wondering if any of you know what type of art this is and where I could find these supplies!. I honestly don't know what to ask for when I go into art stores, but I'd really like to start doing this again!.

when you go to the store tell the assistant that youre interested in making stamps and need cutting and carving tools as well as a rubber material to make the stencil with!.

when i was a kid i made stamps out of erasers and thick rubber bands!. those might be less expensive than a professional material!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
