Question: What is the best digital SLR for a amateur photographer!?

I have a Canon S3 but am thinking about upgrading to an SLR!. My main interest is taking photos of building and party photos, both indoors and out!. Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want to have the zoom capacity that you presently have with the S3, you will have to purchase very expensive lenses for either the Canon or the Nikon DSLR!. Not everybody needs a DSLR, and to shoot pictures of buildings and take pictures at parties, you certainly do not need to spring for the bucks

What you might want to do is to look for another brand, if Canon does not have a replacement with more MP than the S3 and get that if what you need is zoom!. If you want to photograph buildings for architectural reasons with a DSLR, you will need to look into the Perspective Control lenses, which no one gives away, to get things done right!.

There is too much peer pressure in Yahoo answers Photography to purchase far more than you need!. I could certainly tell you the psychology involved on the part of those who push others into more than they need!.

Remember, ifyou buy the latest NIKON or CANON out right now, that camera will be replaced in a year with a model tht has more features and yours will be worth about a nickle even though you paid a lot for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both Canon and Nikon make entry level DSLR's and they both come with a 18-55 mm standard lens!.
