None to do it, but anywhere from two to four years to qualify for a JOB doing it!. Most publishers and design agencies wont even consider an application unless the candidate has a, minimum, bachelor's degree in art!.

Some smaller agencies, print shops and the like will often hire a student without a degree, but, would still prefer someone with an AA degree or better!. The problem is that these employers can't afford to pay the top dollar that professional designers can demand!.

And, I will mention this!. While it IS possible to find work without the degree, the top studios can afford to be choosy!. Why should an art director plow through dozens of portfolios when he or she can have the field narrowed down for them by "filtering out" those that do not have a degree!? It is one of those highly competitive fields where there are many more "wannabees" than there are actual jobs!.

As I often answer this kind of question, "The degree gets you the interview!. THEN the portfolio gets you the job!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
