Question: Gimp question!!?
How can I change the canvas so when I try to make my picture !.jpg it won't have the ugly white areas where it was transparent!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
jpg are not transparent, so if you have image of horse per say, and erase white, you would save as png or gif to keep transparent, png is better quality, gif is ok, more for animated gifs,

if you meant the edge lines on transparent layer, you could use wand to select color and delete only if horse is now white, or zoom in and erase areas,

JPG doesn't have transparency so you'll need to open the image you want to overlay on top as a background layer and open the "picture" into a forground layer!. Then combine the layers and export to jpg!. If this is for an avatar or an icon, then reduce the pallet to 256 colors and save as gif/png which will maintain transparency!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey Horse

Save your pic in tiff format and choose , no background as an option!.
This way, you will retain the transparency!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
