Are colored pencil works paintings or drawings?

Position:Home>Visual Arts> Are colored pencil works paintings or drawings?

Question:

In addition to pastels I also do colored pencil, and I consider most of my pieces to be paintings, even though most people think pencils only produce drawings!. In your opinion, which of the following would you consider paintings and which are drawings!?

Painting is essentially, well that a picture or object colored with paint but as I see it paint does not always have to be liquid!. So from my point of view I see pencils and colored pencils as another type of paints so!.!.!. Yeah call your painting however you like!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not entirely sure how to differentiate between a "painting" and a "drawing" !.!.!. I use both colored pencil and acrylic !.!.!. I always consider my colored pencil works "drawings" and my acrylics to be "paintings" !.!.!. but I actually think my colored pencil drawings are much more difficult!.

Therefore, I tend to place a higher "value" (but I define "value" as a measure of satisfaction, not a monetary measure) on a good drawing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Officially, they are considered Drawing Media!. Sounds nicer than just "Drawings"!. In the case of the watercolour/pencil, it would be classified "Mixed Media"!.

Yes, it's just a label, but some galleries, exhibitions & competitions require this kind of label to classify between media!. For the sake of this type of classification, Drawing Media isn't considered painting!. In this case, it has nothing to do with style, as it would with pastels!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1,2,3 seems like done with color pencils,what ever you do is pretty good!.

pictures with pencil will be in drawing category !.
