You can avoid pixelation of the image by resampling using bicubic smoothing (select in image size dialog box)!. The image will be smooth, though fuzzy - you can't get detail that wasn't in the original small picture!. If the image is a jpeg, you will probably still get some checkerboard or basketweave patterning from the jpeg artifacts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can make an image slighty bigger, with better quality by increasing the size in increments of 10%, and then sharpening it after!. This only works for a certain amount of time, until it loses it's quality!. Keep in mind, you are trying to make a picture read pixels it simply does not have, and so you will never get all the details you want!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the more advanced versions, the program tries to do it automatically!.
I guess you just have to clone some parts until it doesn't look too bad!.
Especially try to do that on smooth surfaces!.
When you see an edge kind of divided (because it is being overly pixelized), try to complete it!.
In short, keep a copy of the smaller image nearby to try to recreate it in bigger scale!.!.!.

It will take awhile, but then again, having to resort to that method means there is no other options left!.

Good luck =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can try a few ways:

1)Get a better resolution/Size orginal Picture

2) press Ctrl+T then hold shift and drag the sides out diagonally

3) Go on image> image Size and do it be %

but if the image is simply too low-res then it wont happen

If the file is a !.JPEG or !.TIFF then there is no way to make it bigger without it pixelating (looking like lego haha)!.

If its a vector based image then it can me resize to any resolution without lossing picture quality!.

Hope this helps!

Try manually increasing the resolution in "Image Size" then perhaps use the Median filter to smudge out some of the jagged pixels!. Unless you can obtain a higher resolution original, you don't have many options!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If a small image is very low resolution, you can't make it bigger because the pixels simply aren't there to make them bigger, so (as you say) you end up with something that looks like lego!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Brian, Genuine Fractals is a beyond amazing program, it works so well!. Its 150 or so buck which isn't great but if you look around the interwebs you should be able to get it for free!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
