The easiest way to price your murals is by the square foot!. That really cuts down on questions and disputes!. also, it helps to get prices on what a square foot of marble or other materials cost to show that an original artist's work is actually a bargain for the client!.

As for paint, look at Home Depot, Wal-Mart etc!. for gallons of paint that were mixed wrong!. There will be a dot of the color on the lid and you can really save a ton of $$ that way!. You can also go to a place like a Sherwin-Williams paint store and buy small cans of very deep pigment colors and then mix varying amounts with a neutral base to get the color you want!.

Good luck!! : )

btw, always take very good digital photos of your finished murals!. You need them for a portfolio of your work to show new clients!. also, get business cards with contact info!. You never know when you'll meet a possible customer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you care at all about the lightfastness, the longevity, the weather resistance, the color fidelity, the ability to mix the color you want, etc!. you WILL NOT use house paint to paint murals!! Utrecht, Jerry's Artarama and a couple of other places sell acrylic paint in actual artist's colors that are reasonably priced and will make your mural an actual work of art that will look like you want it to and will last for more than a couple of years before it starts to fall off the wall!. It doesn't take THAT much paint to paint a mural!.

And you will never get a volume discount from Home Depot--you could not possibly buy enough paint!. We're talking hundreds of gallons here!.

And yes, charge it by the square foot!. Not that you need to tell them your formula for figuring out your price!. Instead take them to a gallery and find out what a painting say 8 x 10 feet would cost!. They'll figure out pretty fast what a bargain mural painting is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
