If you already have the Canon lenses, pick up an excellent condition Canon EOS-1V!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use a canon EOS ELAN 7 series advanced amateur SLR!. It's not up to the EOS 1 standard for film, but it's a damn good camera!. One can be found on ebay or craigslist for $150-$200 with the 28-105mm zoom lens, or the newer 28-105mm USM II!. I also own a vintage Yashica rangefinder, circa 1977, I enjoy using when shooting film and feeling nostalgic!. Be careful though!. If you feel less than satisfied with digital photography, given your current DSLR, you may find yourself having better luck upgrading to perhaps a 40D as your feelings of disinterest may be a result of using the older 20D!. If you fail to get what you want with a digital camera, your results will not be earth shattering with film either!. I'm not saying that applies to you, but I'm just saying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Assuming you have a few EF lenses to go with your 20D, Canon is about the only company still making a decent, but affordable SLR in the form of the EOS 30V!. Despite the bargains to be had secondhand, I personally would prefer to buy an SLR brand new!. The wear and tear on the shutter is always something to consider with used models, and it's not as though you'd be paying crazy money, like the cost of a new Hasselblad or large format camera!.

If, on the other hand you want the tactile ergonomics as well as the rich tonality of a film SLR, you're probably thinking of a manual model!. The Contax S2 has all mechanical components; you could use it in Antarctica if you ever find yourself there! And the Carl Zeiss lenses are legendary for their quality!. Nikon's FM2 is also a gorgeous manual focus camera with a wide range of AI-s lenses, which are still being made!.

Do you have a scanner, or do you plan to go back to the darkroom!? Epson's V750, despite being a flatbed, will squeeze great results out of 35mm, and it handles medium format, 5x4" and 8x10" film as well!. Seriously, you'd be shocked at the quality!.

What is it you don't like about digital!? If it's the limited dynamic range, have you tried Fujifilm's S5 Pro!? It's available for very low prices now, and though it only shoots 6MP images in RAW it will more than suffice for A4 prints, even A3 if you knock 'em out at 150 dpi!. Honestly, its tonal range is remarkably film-like!.

I hope you find that going back to film is all you hope it will be, but personally I don't see valid reason to unless you also aim to upgrade to medium or large format in the near future, where a decent scanner will get you images with a resolution even a Leaf Aptus back (at $20k+) couldn't match!. And then of course, the sheer size of the files would necessitate the purchase of a powerhouse computer!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've had a Canon EOS 650 since the late 80s and can't imagine a better film SLR in its price range (under $1,000)!.

That specific model was discontinued, and I do not know if they still produce anything similar, but if you found a used one in good condition, I'd go for it!.

Edit to add: Ricoh also has produced some very good similar models, and before I bought my EOS, I borrowed a Ricoh from a friend to try, and liked it almost as much as the EOS I eventually bought!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as all your lenses are EF, any of the 35 mm EOS cameras will work just fine!. My favorite is the Canon Elan 7NE!.

If you have any EF-S lenses you will get vignetting on the 35 mm film frame

As mentioned, 35 mm EOS cameras can be found on a craigslist near you!.

One listing near me !.!.!.

I have a Canon AE-1 (seventies), it's wonderful!. I've had no problem finding more lenses for it and it's given me excellent results!.
Only complaint: I wish it could double expose!. It can't (easily, at least)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a Pentax K1000 and it is the best camera I own!. I also have a Canon Rebel 2000, but the manual settings are much harder to use!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite film camera ever is my Nikon F5, it's still the best camera I've ever owned even though most of my work now is digital!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
