Question: Canvas help!? Please help!!!! (More details inside)!?
So I drew in what I'm going to paint (In oil) on a cotton canvas!.!.but I pressed too hard and erased on one area and now it's kind of loose in that area!.!.!.like, there's a dent!.
How can I make that go away!? Or will the canvas just tighten itself again!? Will it affect the painting!?
This really sucks!. =(Www@QuestionHome@Com

Turn the canvas around, and with a priming brush 'paint' the back with fairly hot water!. Once this has dried, and if the stretcher allows for it, wedge out the corners!.
In a studio I used to use, one day one I went in I found a stray cat had got in somehow and was using a small painting as a hammock! The whole front of the painting was bowed in, about a inch deep at the middle of the concave!. With the treatment above the canvas zinged back into shape!.
So don't worry!. I saved a canvas I thought was ruined, so I'm sure you'll be able to do the sameWww@QuestionHome@Com

No Worries!. Spray the back with warm (not hot) water and it should tighten itself when it dries!.

But, do never EVER use an eraser on canvas again!. THAT will mess with your paint more than anything!. You change the structure of your canvas and residue actually stays on the canvas and will change how the paint sticks to the canvas!.

This is the reason why painters use charcoal and a 'wing' to erase mistakes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
