The previous posts may be right that it was not done when the picture[s] was taken, but were "massaged" with a photo editing software program in a computer!. I can't tell for certain by examining the pics in the link you provided!.

On the other hand, IF you have a camera in which you can control the shutter speed [exposure], AND can control the diameter of the opening of the lens [called f-stop], then it IS POSSIBLE using these two controls to adjust what is called the "DEPTH OF FIELD," which varies with the f-stop setting!.

With these controls, you can control how much of the foreground and background of your pictures will be in focus, or out of focus!.

For only one example, if the distance from the camera to the auto is 30 feet, and your camera is focused on the near surface, then if you use an f-stop like f-22 or 32, then everything from a foot or so in front of the camera all the way back to infinity [in this case, the horizon], will be in sharp and acceptable focus!.

It is IMPORTANT TO KNOW that the larger the f-number, the SMALLER the opening in the lens!. The smaller the f-number, then the LARGER the lens opening!. The larger the opening, the shallower the depth of focus in front and back of the focal point, and the more the foreground and background object will be "defocused!."

On the other hand, IF you use an f-stop like f-1!.2, then the area of acceptable focus may be something like 5 feet in front of and 10 feet behind the distance at which you focused!.

The above distance numbers were randomly selected for demonstration purpose only, and may not be correct!. also, different lenses will have slightly different "depth of field" at the same f-stop setting!.

Howerever, for your purpose, it is sufficient to know that the closer the focus distance from your camera to the subject, and the larger the diameter of the opening of the diaphragm in the lens, the shallower the depth of field, and thus the increased "defocusing" of the foreground and background of your photo!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In Adobe Photoshop you can use Blur tool and target the part of the pic you wanna blur, or you can also use Filter menu and select blur for the whole pic!. Experiment yourself!. If you don't have Photoshop you can download it for free!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its not that difficult!. All you have to do is focus on the object and the rest will be a blur!. it's not to difficult!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That was probably done using layers, blurring tools and the history brush found in Photoshop !.!.!. any version can to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
