They sounds like 2 peas in a pod to me!. The only real difference I can see is the SX100IS has more zoom and most likely a better, more powerful flash!. The flash is only important if you're using flash fill in bright sunlight!. also the flash on the SX100IS is a pop up flash, which means it will be above the eye so you won't get red eye in your pictures!. Other than that, they both have full manual control, the same ISO settings, the same aperture settings, the same resolutioin, the same image size, basically everything that makes a picture a picture!. Your only decision is if you want the 10x zoom, or if you can live with the 4x!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on your needs!.

The SX100IS has a great deal more features and shooting modes, allowing you more control and creativity, but is much bulkier!. The controls are much more intuitive!.

The SD1100IS is very small point and shoot that will allow you to carry around the camera easily in a pocket, yet take great pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
