Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Raphael's School of Athens (by the way da Vinci never sculpted a statue of Daniel!)
Raphael's mural exemplified the spirit and thought of the Renaissance which was characterized by two main ideas: Man should be at the centre of all things (in Medieval times - religion prevailed, and this world was thought of only as a preparation for the next!. Now - with the Renaissance, artists began to tackle secular as well as religious themes with the figures in them shown in a realistic way!.
Secondly, Renaissance scholars, artists and architects looked to the classical past for inspiration!. In the mural are depicted the most famous philosophers of ancient times against a classical setting!. See description at http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/The_School_!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
