You've named some pigment colours - one paint is no different from the other, it's only the colour that is different!.

When thinning acrylic paints, the use of water often makes them dry faster!. A better choice is to thin with polymer medium, or glazing medium which has a bit of retarder in it!. Use caution with pure retarder, too much can leave the paint tacky for a long long time - use it sparingly - best advice is to mix retarder with liquid polymer medium for thinning the paint, or mix retarder with gel medium to extend the paint and add texture!.

Using a "Wet Palette" will be a great help!. Either purchase a Masterson Wet Palette or make your own!. Using a butcher tray or shallow plastic food tray, lay a few layers of damp paper towel in the bottom and cover this with heavy tracing paper!. Use the paper as your mixing palette - this keeps the paint hydrated for a long time without watering the paint down!. You can cover the palette with plastic wrap or the lid, and the paint will stay workable for days without the use of retarder or water!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Those are simply colors of pigment (that is the stuff that makes paints what ever color it is)!. The "oxides" are all produced with ferric oxide (rust), or a artificial type of it!.

Golden Paints, has a website which you can take a peak at that show a wonderful display of artist colors and their names!.

Anyway, so you want to know how to use acrylic paint!? Have you ever painted before!? It dried fairly quickly, mixes very well, and can be thinned with water!.

You can paint with it on canvas, wood, thick papers and clothe!. But not on plastic or glass, as it can be scrapped off easily and is not permanent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
