If you select the area with the freeselect tool and copy it, with the latest version of the GIMP, the last thing you copied while in the program is a brush, and if you select that brush, you can use it to draw!.

OR:
You can use the eye dropper and select the color you want the thing gone to be covered with!. Use that color and color over the area on a new layer!. Then if it's an image, go to the filters and add a little bit of noise!. Makes it look like nothing was ever there!. You can smudge the area a little if you wish!. Sometimes the result may be messy though, so be careful!. also, you can try the heal tool, it looks like two criscrossed bandages!. Great for touch ups on photos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
