As for wall art, there are so many ways
from applying the paint by dabbing with a sponge
to those decal applied pictures you can buy and just scrape them on
to painting a pic here and there yourself
or wallpaper strip at top of walls

also functional options, like creative shelving, adds to the look of the room
(and the drapes, ceiling and floor covering are ALL gonna play a part in the look)I'd pick a set of colors that go great together before I even start!.!.((!.like burgundy/slate grey/white and also black accemts/brown, for example))!.!.then think floor, walls, trim!.ceiling, furniture, drapes-->how are yopui gonna spread it out!? which is the main color!?
(you can get away with a light burgundy wall paint, and a slate grey carpet, and dark brown trim and furniture, with some silver white and black thrown in as window coverings and ceiling)-for an example
and you might buy all black metal lamps and such!.!.!.

mostly I find that people are chicken when it comes to picking a color (that's why paint store pretends there are 12 different 'shades' of white (no there arent, white is white, they are just letting you feel you "picked" something))
so pick a coloR!!!

be bold
paint the wall like a cow if you want
or undersea
or those decals I mentioned are often like bamboo plants and ferns !.!.

but pick a wall color!
deep is ok
people fear it
but it looks great, because it so seldom happens
so your home will be special

I saw a kitchen with black walls (top half white)--->looked amazing! !.!.!.with silver appliances!.

And if you just cant get away from white walls well!.!.!.go with cashew then, instead of white!. at least do that!.

Mostly though, express yourself!.

put the leaf between 2 pieces of wax paper and iron itWww@QuestionHome@Com

These are the steps involved in pressing the plant!. There is a fern in the picture on the site below!.

Once it's pressed, you decide how you want to mount it!. If you want it to look clean, you can buy some herbarium paper for mounting, or look into black construction paper for contrast!. You can frame it, which would be cool!. You could sandwich it between panes of glass in a 3-dimenssional sculpture!. You could sandwich it in vellum or some other translucent material, like wax paper or large sheets of translucent plastic, and frame it and light it from behind!. Or you can hang it from the wall!.

1!. Place the plants!. The guts of your plant press will consist of alternating layers of plants arranged on absorbent material (newspaper and/or blotter paper) and corrugated cardboard!. The cardboard enables air circulation so the plants dry more quickly!. Students should carefully lay each specimen in between a folded sheet or two of newspaper (or blotter paper, sandwiched in between newspaper)!. You can lay numerous flowers or plants of the same thickness on the same piece of paper, as long as they don't touch!. Try to arrange flowers and other plant parts in a natural way, so their parts will be visible when pressed!.

2!. Make the sandwich!. In between each plant/paper layer, insert a piece of corrugated cardboard!. Finally, place wooden boards on either side of your layered pile!. Next, you'll need to bind or weight the stack to create pressure that will help the plants dry!. You can tighten straps or belts around it or simply put something heavy on the stack!. Some presses have screws and nuts in each corner that can be tightened to create pressure!. Leave your press in a warm, ventilated location!.

3!. Check your specimens!. Although many plants will dry adequately in ten days to two weeks, some may take longer!. If you find they are still moist when you check them, and you have them between more than one newspaper layer, you can change just the outer layer!. (The delicate plants, when moist, will likely stick to the piece they're touching!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com
