Question: How to look good in a photograph!?
Have you any tips on how to look good in a photo!? Loads of people have told me I'm really pretty, but I always hate all of my pictures!. I've started doing really obvious poses, because then if I look bad it looks intentional!. I'd love to be able to just smile at the camera and look ok!. How can I go about being able to do this!?

My advice is practice in the mirror, seriously! if you look in the mirror and think to yourself "ok that one looks stupid" then don't pose in that way!. If you find an expression you look *cute* doing then keep doing it!. Its all about practice and you have everything you need to practice with I!.e - yourself and a mirror!.

So yeah, practice!. Like someone else says don't have the camera positioned below you!. also above you (like typical myspace type pictures), i can make your body look strange!.

Its all about the eyes, if your not getting into the right frame of mind then your eyes wont match your expression so if your going for a *happy* look then try thinking of something happy or imagine the guy you love just walked in the room!.

The more you pose the more confident and comfortable you will be infront of a camera!.

Would be best if you got someone who is a photographer or studying photography who know the basics thou!. They know how to flatter your looks!. As said above - Black and white is pretty cool, I like sepia too!.

So yeah!.!. get that mirror out and play about with your expressions!Www@QuestionHome@Com

As to what wondalan said I'm assuming he means its better for someone to take a picture slightly above eye level then at or below eye level!.

The best lighting you can get is when its partially cloudy!. The clouds act as a filter giving a glow more then a harsh light!.

But if that's not possible the more lighting the better in most cases!.

Natural > florescent

also, find out which "angle" looks best for you!.
Maybe you like the look of a picture when your head is tilted to the left, or when when your right profile is showing, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to be comfortable in front of the camera!. And you have to like the way you look!. If you don't like the way you look you will never like a photograph regardless of how it's shot!. But you can tell if someone is uncomfortable and it shows in the picture!. You need to look at the pictures and figure out what you don't like about them!. If you think your chin is disappearing then push it out more, tilt your head a little to the side!. There is tons of things you can do!.!.!. but you have to love yourself and be comfortable first and foremost!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like you are lacking confidence, and no amount of pretty posing is going to mask that!. I would suggest you take a modeling course (not the expensive type) just something simple for about a month or so!. Another option is join a local talent agent, usually its free or no more than $50!. They send you out for general shoots, either movie extra or simple catalog work!.

You get to work with the best creative people, which will boost your confidence, and spur you on to splash your smile in any situation in front of any camera!

FYI: am a photographer and I worked in the movies biz for years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Pearl, some people are beautiful, however, they don't photograph well!. I believe when one is not comfortable when the shot is taken, it will show on the photo!. A friend and I wanted to help our friend out with his new headshot business!. So we decided to play model, we took loads of pics, however, her photos made her look stiff and nervous!.

Taking a photo is like dancing, you have to move with the beat, and you have to look like your enjoying yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hate having my picture taken!. Usually my smile seems forced!.

The best pictures I've taken, in my opinion, I purposefully think of the one person who makes me laugh and fills me with joy and I react as if I am looking and responding to him instead of the camera!.

That works well for me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Avoid being photographed from below and stick your head forward, which sounds weird but does help!. A good photographer (regardless of equipment and technique) will get good photos because they press the button at the right time and are interested in making you look your best!. Avoid group photos too because the photographer is probably looking at someone else!.

Soft light and b/w can help as can using a high contrast in photoshop afterwards!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honey, some people just photograph better than others!. I always heard that Joan Kennedy (Ted's first wife) was so much prettier than Jackie O, but didn't photograph well!. I'm a pretty older lady, but I make horrible pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I find when I know someone's taking my picture, my smile always looks forced!. Let your friends and/or family get some candid shots of you!. Or make someone tell you a joke, so your smile is real!. ^^Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well lipgloss alwaaaaaaays add a lovely touch to photos

But black and white hides blemishes more

And moonlit setting make your complexion look flawless

hope this helps xxxWww@QuestionHome@Com

Keep taking those pictures!. One day, you'll get a good one!. There are PhotoShop type programs that can improve the outcome, too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perhaps your friends were just being kind, try staying well into the background with maybe some fauna covering your face !?Www@QuestionHome@Com
