Question: Getting a Camera!?
I'm into photography and I'm looking to get one of those professional-type cameras but I have no clue about them!. I want one of those big Nikons that take clear shots and have several effects!. also, I need to find one that works well with Macs, if that is an issue!.!.

Lastly, I'd like to find something that isn't too expensive!. Nothing over $400!.00 and something that isn't a piece of you-know-what!.

Any suggestions!? Links!?
Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, no matter how "professional" a camera is, it will be totally worthless to you unless YOU learn and know how to use it!. In fact, it will often be worse than a point and shoot if all you ever do is put it in auto and expect it to work miracles!. The DSLRs are not designed to do "effects"!. That is goofy point and shoot type of stuff!.

You are not going to get any decent DSLR for under $400!. About the lowest priced unit available now is the Nikon D40, and with only the kit lens, it will cost you nearly $500!.

The software will work with your Mac, but you really need Adobe Photoshop which will cost $99 for Elements and over $600 for the full version!.!.!. yes the software costs more than the camera!.

Here is a good starter camera capable of doing great things!.!.!. but the key word is CAPABLE!. It is nothing but a tool that YOU have to learn to use!.

Ditto on Steve's answer with one exception!. I suggest you first buy a good used SLR camera and learn to use it!. It can be had for sometimes less than $100!. After you have mastered it, then move on to the more expensive DSLR!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
