Once a person has graduated college with a degree in graphic design, do they need much on the job training at their first entry-level job!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

it depends on the job they find!. Some jobs are very strait forward, from the box stuff!. Other jobs will include more things that weren't covered in school!. One example I know of is Embroidery, where the person would learn how to 'punch' an image to run on the machine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Rhubix!. It definitely depends on the job!.
I just finished a 3 year Graphic Design program and got a job straight out of college!. However, this particular job required a tiny bit of training due to the additional tools used in Adobe Illustrator!. We were never taught to use AutoCAD tools in college to build signs!.

If you start working in a Print House, you will probably need training on using the print machines!.!.!.something they simply can't teach in a design program!.

However, should you choose to freelance after college, then you can probably by-pass the training!.

BUT!.!.!.ALWAYS keep on top of your programs!. Make sure you take the additional effort to learn new things on your own!. Eg!. refresher courses when software has surpassed several versions!.

good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well in College you get to pick a class to design fashion but if you want to start a business you have to go to business classes but if you don't you just have to graduate from fashion school and then you can do whatever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
