Question: What are your feelings about using cheap, off brand Dane-Elec 2GB SD cards in your Canon dSLR camera!?

Frankly I would be leary of any memory card that didnt state the write speed up front!. If the write speed wont keep up with your Canon dSLR then it would be a pain to work around!.

I once bought a 2 pack of generic 2-gig cards from a reputable national chain!. When I inserted each card into the card reader it showed less than a gig each!. After that, I only use Lexar cards!. I would feel safe with Kingston and Sandisk cards as well!. But it's just my personal prefrence!. The generic cards were made by Sandisk, so my view of them dropped quite a bit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally I don't, but I'd be fine with it!.
I have no reason to believe that they're less reliable than SanDisk Extreeeeeme cards, etc!. And if a card does blow up, you're screwed with any brand (SanDisk includes 'rescue software' but you can download that anywhere!.)
As for the writing speed, you'll be fine unless you shoot like a maniac in continuous mode!. The camera's built-in buffer can hold (the first) 20 or so shots and write them to the card at a leisurely pace!.
The only benefit that I get out of fast cards is that the contents transfer to the hard drive about three minutes faster!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have seen that brand around so much that it doesn't seem like an off brand anymore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i do it & it's fine for me!.
