Question: Second-hand SLR Camera okay to buy!?
I've been looking for a photography camera!. And I'm liking what i'm hearing about the Nikon's!.

However, is it okay if I get a second hand one!?
It'll be okay, right!?

I found a shop in London that sells second-hand cameras, so I'm hoping it'll be okay to buy!

He's selling them for around £100-200 on average!.
Any advice would be great!. Thankyou!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Every camera I own is second hand!.

The FM10, N90, F4, F3, and FG are all very good Nikon cameras!. And all very, very affordable!.

If you want to get every line of quality that you can out of that 35mm frame give some real thought to the lens you are going to put on the body!. I recommend the Nikon 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 180mm and 300mm primes!. Start with the 50mm!.

Have fun and make sure they offer a 2 week return policy or something similar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have bought more used cameras than new, and I know of a professional commercial photographer in his 50s who has NEVER bought a new camera!.

It is like anything else used, just try to be as careful as you can!. If you can, always buy from someplace that has a good return policy!. You can get some TERRIFIC film cameras now that so many people are jumping on the digital bandwagon!.!.!. which is not inheriantly superior!. Digital can just be easier, though not at all cheaper when you consider the software, and storage, and computer requirements that never seem to end!.

With film you will take less photos, but BETTER photos because you will learn photography properly!. Far too many digital users just fire hundreds of shots hoping to get a few good ones!. A monkey can be trained to do that!.

Yes Lala!. You should be fine by buying a second hand camera from a reputable business!. I do have a little advice for you!. Make sure the salesman shows you that the camera is working!.!. have him click off the shutter so you can hear it!. I would really want to know if he has an owner's manual as well!. Then you should ask him if he will guarantee the camera to be in perfect working condition and if he will give you a couple of days to shoot off a roll of film and take it to have it processed!. If the camera is all he says it is!.!.!. I think he will be glad to let you try it out!. If he will not let you do that!.!.!.!. then I would shy away, because you will be losing your money!. I really have purchased used cameras!.!.!. many of them!.!.!. and I always make the store let me run a roll of film through it!. Every camera has worked so far!.!.!. So, that is the best way to protect yourself and get a good camera as well!. Thanks for reading and good luck with everything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should be okay provided that the previous owner wasn't a professional photographer!. The life of a camera is rated by the number of actuations!. Say 500,000 times!. A professional photographer can use a lot over time!. More so than a amateur!. You don't want to buy one that might crap out on you after so many shots!. I've never had any problems with my previous pre-owned cameras either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Before you buy the camera, open it up and inspect every crack and cranny!. Remove the lens from the body of the camera and look closely at it by pointing it at a bright light!.

Next, check the action of the shutter up close to your ear listening for a smooth action!.

Check the outside of the body for marks that may indicate that it has been dropped!. Check that the lens cover fits tightly without any free play or wiggle!.

I don't know what £100-200 represents in US dollars, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 in the US!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
