Question: Would someone tell me how, using freeware, I can shrink extremely large pictures!?

how large is too large, and what format that is compatible, may depend on computer memory and video ram, so lets say it only a large jpg file 4mb, open in editor like photoshop or other, check image size in resolution (72/ 300 pixels ), the image LxW size 8x10", and print size, you have options to resize for various uses, to print or for web use, you can try lowering size and resolution 200%, if you have camera software already, there may be resize tools with it, try those first, save as copy
