Question: Does anyone know a photo print site that doesn't automatially crop images!?
I am looking for a site where I can print and order image prints and they won't crop them for me!. I want to use the pictures for scrapbooking and I crop them myself!. Most places, walmart, target, costco will ALL automatically crop the pictures to 4x6 and cut off heads, backgrounds, etc!. I am printing about 200 pictures and dont want to use photoshop for each one!. Any help would be appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use adoramapix www!.adorama!.com click on the pix tab!. You can control what is cropped or order no crop!. Your camera isn't shooting in a 4x6 format that is why a crop is necessary!. They will print full frame and leave white edges so you can crop yourself!. They do a lovely job also!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The problem is NOT that they automatically crop your pictures!.

The problem is that you send them pictures that are not already sized to the exact dimensions you're asking for!.

In other words !.!.!. you want Walmart to make a 4x6 print for you, but the file you give them is not in that EXACT 2:3 ratio!. (Most digital cameras produce a file that is APPROXIMATELY that ratio, but NOT EXACTLY!.

All their machine knows how to do (and you're right - it is automatic) is to make the shorter side exactly 4 inches!. If that means the longer side has to be chopped, well, that's what's going to happen!.

Sorry, but the solution to this problem is to resize EVERY file to the exact dimensions you expect BEFORE you ever take the file to anyone to print!.

If you don't know how to resize your files, this info might help!. It's written for Photoshop, but applicable to just about any image management software!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm an avid scrapbooker and take tons of pictures- which I like to be able to completely edit for myself, like you!. I use walmart!.com!. Because most of my pics are digital, it naturally wants to crop to bring the image to a 4 by 6 size- that's why they offer you the option not crop when they recieve an order with digital prints!. At least when you UPLOAD them ONLINE you get this option! It always, always asks me this, and I like the fact that the pics come out slightly smaller than 4 by 6 because I can fit more on a page, and crop what I like!. Hope this helps at all!

Uploading online also has other free benefits- like tons of borders from basic white or black to polka dots or farm animals! When I have a few shots for a specific page that don't need to be cropped, I like to give them matching borders that fits the theme of the page- it looks great with little embelishment needed!. Give it a look sometime!Www@QuestionHome@Com
