Question: Is red eye a problem in photographs of black people!?
I heard on TV that the reflected headlight glow from a white dogs eyes is red, where the glow from a black dog's eyes is white or yellowish!. So that got me to wondering, is red eye a problem in photographs of black people, or is it just white people who show that colour!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The glow from a dog's eye is different because their eye structure is different!. Some animals have a layer called the tapetum, which is reflective to help the animal's night vision!. A white dog might glow red because it is an albino!. Otherwise, the tapetum may glow white, yellow, green or blue!.

Dark eyed people of any skin color tend to have less red eye, because the dark iris permits less light into the eye to start with!. This is an evolutionary adaptation, like every trait distributed amongst homo-sapiens!. Humans will have red because of the blood supply in the retina!. Sometimes the human eye can look white, but that is the result of the angle of light (or in rare cases, a tumor in the eye)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When redeye does occur indeed it is more pronounced with people with blue or gray eyes as light colored iris's do in fact have less melanin and allow more light to pass through the pupil into the blood rich retina!. Being that grey and in particular blue eyes are a recessive genetic traits amongst black people redeye is less prounounced as black people have darker colored eyes!. However,I would like to stress that this is not a race issue but simply an issue of eye color!.
This is not to say that redeye occurs to a lesser degree amongst black people as this is a physiological phenomenon common amongst all humans(it is just less pronounced amongst people with darker eyes)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is not a researched answer, but the red-eye color comes from the retina, which is red in every human walking the planet, so I guess they would get red eye!.

Blue-eyed people get it worse and perhaps Black people don't get it as often or as bad, but I don' tknow that for a fact!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What would make you watch a show on dogs and compare it to people is beyond me!. But yes, black people have red eye problems on pics too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
