Our local college had boards up while building work was going on so they asked the art students to decorate it all with whatever they liked as long as it was clean!. The work was absolutely amazing!. The talent that was on show to anyone that went past was a real focal point for the community!. The only time graffiti annoys me is when it banal rantings like '!.!.!.!.!.!.woz ere' etc on local bridges or offensive language where children can read it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com it is both an art and a nuisance!. but hey, here's the catch: it is only an art if it is done LEGALLY, meaning, it's not done on some wall you just see on the street which is not yours!. that is, in my opinion, illegal!. it is only OK if it is done on your own property, as decoration, or for fun because it is a way of self-expression!. and it is also a nuisance at the same time because it kind of downgrades the image of a city or place where there are a lot of graffiti only because it shows that people living in that place are some sort of rule breakers!. i am a fan of graffiti for art purposes only, but if it is used to make one's place ugly, then i am not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Art !.!.!.well a bit of both actually because although some may be doing it to express themselves another may just be doing it as a tag!.!.!.like neds o-o Obviously some people don't like seeing Graffiti in Undergrounds and on buildings, i think they should maybe have a building which is not being used and allow people do do their art inside it instead of them doing it on random buildings or train stations and undergrounds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com depends where its done and what type of picture they drew if they spray painted a large picture of a penis on my house!.!. then thats going too far it they distroy beautiful areas of residential scenery with tags then its not just a nuisance but disgusting and damage to property if they graffti'd on a canvas with which can be moved when need be !.!. then thats fine and wouldnt be called graffiti and instead art!. ugly random pointless pictures around the place shouldnt be premitted! if you want to draw, get a piece of paper for gods sake and if you feel so strongly that you want others to view it, then get the paper and stick it on the wall rather than completely demolishing it!.!.simple :pWww@QuestionHome@Com Graffiti (as opposed to just tagging) is an artform!. That it is also in some cases vandalism doesn't negate the fact that it is art!. Just because something is art doesn't make it socially desirable, being socially irresponsible does not mean it isn't art!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Depends - if it's just 'tagging' then it's vandalism - but if it's a large piece with careful shading, even if you don't like it, it's still art!. yesterday i was walking through streatham and have only just noticed that on a wall above a fish 'n' chip shop, someone has painted some of the creatures from "Where The Wild Things Are" which was one of my favourite books as a kid! We have a problem with kids writing on all of the walls in a local sub way!. We have now got in contact with the local art collages to get kids to design some graffiti art for it!. With the hope that it will put a stop to the mindless idiots that have to deface every thing they see!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I dig it !. Every year or so there is a hip hop event at a local club!. (Eminem came in second place at a rap off there ,pre fame) They also display graffitti !.Dozens of high quality "non rushed" legal murals!. I also never understood why rail companies didn't just embrace the artists , and have them paint some rail cars with "acceptible" rust free art!. However when people write 'Colin was ere' or 'Dave 4 Jess' and stuff like that then it is definitely not art!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Well it would depend if it was on my wall to a large degree!. One is art the other is mischief, it is in the eye of the beholder!. Some artists spend a long time designing and painting their images and these are clearly "art"!. However, if someone has just scrawled "Fuc k Off!!" on a wall in spray paint then that is just vandalism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It depends on the type and the location!.
