Question: Drawing Skills!?
I am a terrible drawer, never had the interest for it at a younger age and never really bothered with it, i am now studying fashion and find it incredibly hard to draw!.

I have studied Life drawing, but i haven't improved from that, i also have looked at some fashion drawing books but i think i need to start from the beginning, as it isn't just models i can't draw!.

So my questions are!?

1) Can you be taught to draw at the age of (18)!? (better to learn on your own or is it better to get hired help from a tutor!?
2)What books could you suggest for drawing!? (i feel that i need something that will teach me basic skills which i can then evolve)

Thanks in advance for taking your time out to answer my question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Drawing has nothing to do with the skill of the hand - it is all to do with the skill of the eye!.!.!.it's seeing things as they are, and not how you think they look!.

Most people tend to look at a picture and then draw what they think they saw!.!.!.rather than draw what they actually see!.

When drawing look at actual shapes!.!.!.in the physical body you will see many shapes!.!.!.squares, oblongs, circles, triangles!.!.!.!.try to lightly sketch in the shapes that you see!. Draw people as a series of 'sausages'!.!.!.!.sausage shape from shoulder to elbow!.!.!.another from elbow to hand!.!.!.!.squarish shape for the hand!.!.!.!.sausage for shoulder!.!.!.squashed square for neck!.!.!.!.oblong for face!.!.!.

If you lightly sketch in these shapes and get them in proportion you will find that fleshing out the figure by sketching clothes onto your basic shapes will be much easier!.

This you can practice and get quite skilled at!.

As you are studying fashion you should concentrate on learning how to draw a figure and how to dress it!.!.!.don't bother wasting time learning how to draw horses or country scenes as this will be irrelevant to you in your career!.

You should buy one of those little wooden figures for practice!.!.!.see this short you tube video http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=tStMdJ11J!.!.!.

This looks like a good book to me, but I haven't tried it - only read about it on the internet!.

i think u sould learn it on your own because u can do whatever u want and u can even explore some stuff that don't know!.!.!.if u try it!.!.!. u might have hidden talent that u didn't discover yet!.!.!. juz keep on practicing!.!.!.u cna buy some books that can help u with ur drawing thing in the book shops or in the stationary stores!.!.!.
REMEMBER: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!
hope this helps!.!.!.!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
