Either way, I agree with the other commenter that the background is not quite working with the woman!. At the moment they feel like two different paintings!. The light and color in and around the figure are great!. For me the problem is that the foreground is painted very close to the surface, flattened in the way many modern paintings are!. But the background has more traditional depth!. If it were my painting, I would bring forward the background!. Not in a literal way like making the table closer, but rather bringing it up to the surface more through flatter, sharper color and drawing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i really like the overall look of it!. the only thing i have to say about it is that it seems the background and the woman do not match at all!. the woman is fluent in mark making skills, and the lamp is very vague!.
