Okay, that's different!. Again, without looking over your shoulder, we can't really answer!. It depends on how bright it is!.

If your meter is broken, try the "Sunny 16" rule!.

Get some ISO 200 film!. If it's a bright sunny day, set your shutter speed at 1/250 and the aperture at f/16!. You'll get acceptable prints out of this!.

Set the aperture as follows:

Sunny daylight with crisp shadows - f/16
Slightly overcast with soft edges on the shadows - f/11
Overcast with almost no evidence of shadows - f/8
Full overcast with no discernible shadows at all - f/5!.6

If the side of the jet that you are photographing is in shadow, go down that little chart by one value, so on a slightly overcast day, the shaded side of the jet might come out better at f/8 than f/11!.

If your meter doesn't work and it is essential that you get good shots, bracket your exposure by starting at f/16 (if it's a bright sunny day) and then taking two more shots – one at f/11 and one at f/8!.

I suggested ISO 200 film, because I want to see you using at least 1/200 for a shutter speed with that 200mm lens!. 1/250 is "close enough!."

Kodak Gold 200 has enough latitude that these exposures will work fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it will totally depend on the lighting conditions that day!. if it's cloudy you'll need a more open aperture obviously!. if it's super bright you're options are limitless!. if you want a shallow field of focus (blurry background) then keep your aperture number as low as possible!. if you want as much detail as you can get then keep the number as high as you can without letting the shutter speed be less than 1/60 or 1/30 of a second!. photographing anything is almost completely about the lighting and not so much about the subject!. i hope that helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I found with my X700 it was quite safe to set the controls to program and let the camera look after it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
