I'm trying to learn to draw manga and I'm wondering, when you draw your own do you use the eyes from other stories to draw your own characters eyes!? (I always have trouble with the eyes and hair :/) also how do you improve if you want to do it as a career one day!? Is it something your either good at or not!? Is it something that comes about from practicing or do you have to take art classes as well!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Before you get into this whole manga thing, you have to understand that manga is just a style of drawing!. Drawing in general is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and eventually perfected by anybody!. If you are serious about going into the arts, it is not that much about how well you draw now, its more about creativity!. Most art unis/colleges discourage manga style drawing not because they love marvel!. When you are drawing manga style, you are merely copying another's style without really understanding what lays below the skin (bones, muscles, organs!.!.arteries!.!.!.okay I'm getting ahead of myself)!. Marvel tends to exaggerate the anatomy a little, perhaps that is why most profs can see through the style!. Being good or not in drawing is not about the 'talent'!. Like I mentioned before, the real talent is your creativity and ability to communicate your ideas!. Drawing on its own comes from practice but from my experience, more of understanding (being able to see things in masses and blocks instead of lines)!. Now after all that, you should be able to know that if you were copying a certain manga style for practice to begin with, you would probably be stuck on that style while drawing your own!. The best is to develop your own style!. And in the end, don't forget to have fun and relax!. I know a lot of people who draw 10 pictures a day only to become frustrated with themselves!.
