Question: Calling all photographers!!!!?
I have always dreamed of being a photographer!. The problem is that I have accounts on yahoo jobs and monster!.com and there arn't many postings for assistants!. I recently found one on yahoo but its not on monster!. I applied but it is a month old posting!. I try to stay positive but it doesn't look good for me!. I'd like to stay where I am!. I live in northern IL!. Closest big city being machesney park, or rockford!. Does anyone know any sites that photographers use to find assistants or interns!? Any advise from any photographers!? I've taken graphic arts and photoshop in college!. I've also taken but did not finish a photography class!. (It was a night class and the hours didn't work for me!.) I learned a lot while I was in that class!. It dealt with film cameras and I learned how to use a dark room!. I mostly have experience with digital cameras!. I don't have an SLR but my camera is nice!. I have a Fujifilm Finepix S5200!.

I asked this b4 but got no response!.

I will add some of my pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Apply for a portrait studio!.!.!. such as Picture Me! (in Walmarts Everywhere) pictureme!.com (look at the bottom of the page for the Careers link)

same with Lifetouch which is JCPenney
Olan Mills which is Belks
and then Sears has one too!.

I work for Picture Me! and I love it!.

also, you could try googling 'Photographers in 'city name' and then for all the 'self emplyed ones' you cuould email them and tell them about yourself and what you would like to do!.!.!. alot of them wouldn't mind 'interning' someone!. You may not be able to take a lot of photos but you could assist them and learn a lot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

how old are you again!?!?
cause if you are out of college/university id get in touch with magazines and see if you can give them your portfolio!. And if your not out of hs or uni, then i suggest keep working on your photography!.!.!.!.good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hate to be crude but, I'm not impressed!. The photos seem to staged!. The graphics were good but, not original!. I think you need to relax more when you take your pictures be more spontaneous!. I am not a professional but, I feel I have an eye for photography!. Keep trying!. I took photography from a Man who had his photos in the Clinton- Presidential Library and he once told me that he can take 40 pictures and only end up with one good one!. So, strive for perfection!. But, most of all just have fun!. It's only work if you have to try too hard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm going to be completely honest with you, assuming you are serious about wanting a career as a professional photographer!.

Your Photoshop work is excellent!. Your photos are not!. I think you need to learn more about composition and lighting!. also perspective!. The basics can be taught in photography courses, but a lot of it must be learned by doing!. I think you are on the right track looking for work as a photographer's assistant!. The trouble is, you're going to need to go to a larger city to find something that is truly going to do you some good!. If you can find the right mentor, you can fast-track your career in a way no amount of schooling will accomplish!.

I also recommend you look at photographs - a LOT of photographs!. Go to museums and checkout or buy books with top photographers' works in them!. Study them!. Try to figure out what they did to get the image to look that way!. I guarantee you they didn't just point the camera and click the button!. This is an art every bit as challenging as putting paint to canvas!.

Lastly, photography is highly dependent upon technology!. You must have the right equipment!. Your camera is at best a tool for amateurs to take nice snapshots!. It does not give you the control necessary to create high-quality, professional photographs!. A digital SLR is expensive!. So are the lenses, and the flash and the filters and all the other things you need in your bag to manipulate light and dark and color and contrast!. This is an investment you'll need to make one day if you hope to transition from a good amateur to a professional who can legitimately charge for her work!.

It's an exciting, challenging and extremely rewarding profession!. I will you all the luck in the world, but be prepared to work hard to make it happen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
