It's very difficult to get good bokeh with any point and shoot with a small sensor!. Most P&S lenses have a minimum aperture of about f/2!.8; this, coupled with the very small sensor, is enough to produce a large depth of field!. (Think of pinhole cameras and the amazing depth of field they produce!.)

The answerer above is correct about zooming in!. Creating the bokeh that the lens and camera are capable of is done by having the largest aperture and the most zoom you can muster up!. (Digital zoom does not apply)!.

There is good news though!. Consumer level DSLRs are getting cheaper and cheaper!. You can pick up a used one for a few hundred dollars!.

Save up some money, get a Nikon or Canon DSLR body (I'm a Canon-man myself) and instead of the kit lens, both brands have a 50mm f/1!.8 that will give you some fantastic bokeh from the little $90 lens!.

Hope this helps!

the only way to do bokeh is with a nice zoom lens!.

considering a "coolpix" doesn't have one!.!.

just zoom in as much as possible!.
and try to make sure that the background is semi-evenWww@QuestionHome@Com
