With out having the original image, be it digital and cropped or a paper image and cut (cropped) getting back the cropped part in now history!.!.!. However, if you scan what you have on a flat bed scanner you could scan it ANY size you wanted to play with it in photo shop!. If you don't have a scanner, take it to almost any Walgreen's, Wal Mart, COSCO etc!.!. and they can scan it for you!. You will need to be able to tell them "what size: you want tho!.!. 6Mp cameras take a image around 3000x2000 pixels and save it as a jpg at around 2!.5Mb!.!. Your scanned image COULD be much higher in Mb size depending on how much JPG compression is used or if in a TIFF or even BMP when saved!. It could be as high as 30 or 40Mb or more!.!. A rather large file to be messing with, but not impossible!.

Now, if the image is purely digital in your computer we will have a tougher job here keeping it clean and good looking!. One way is to re-size or re-sample the image!. The bicubic method is quite good and Paint Shop Pro X2 also has what they call Smart Size that is very kind to the image!. Trouble is tho, any of them is good for only so far!.!. Pixels WILL start to show and your image WILL start to fall apart if you try to make the image too big!. a 400x200 pixel image can go to 800x400 and not look too bad!. More digital magic may be needed to smooth the pixels out and the image may never look ' sharp'!.!. but it is what it is!.!.!.

Another way may be to make as clear and as sharp of a print you can and then scan the print to the larger size wanted!.!.!?!

This is a good exercise in why either back-ups or saving with a new name are always a good idea!. When the one and only digital file becomes "changed" going back is only a dream!.!.!.

increase the dpi in photoshop - or - use the with anchors on all corners, position your mouse in the corner (does not matter) hold down your shift and control key and drag larger!. Proportionate!. If this does not work the picture is what it is - small - save as a tiff or gif and be happyWww@QuestionHome@Com

The problem with cropping is you automatically lose size!. You cannot make a picture bigger after you shoot it!. You will only lose resolution!. When you go to print it, do your cropping then by the size you want it to be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
