easy to use, versatile, many features if you can learn them all, high quality lens, great results, and very stable, very fast microprocessor that gets clear shots even while driving or riding in a vehicle / while in you're in motion, easy to shut off the auto-flash, and easy access close up picture function for flowers or small things, reasonable price

The best camera would be a Digital SLR!.!.!. Even for the cheapest You would have to strech the $400 to about $600!. Second choice is advanced digital camera, like Canon G9!. (I have one for sale, it's one month old for $350) :-) Stick to Canon - Nikon, do research at amazon!.com, you can read a lot's of reviews there!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on how seriously you want to pursue photography!. I'd go with a Nikon!. The D40 should fit into your budget!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
