Question: I've got about 8 GB of digital photos!. I'd like to back them up online!. What's a good place to do that!?
I would want to be able to download the full image back again if needed, or better yet, order CDs or DVDs of the images should I lose them!.

Of course, cheap or free is good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw the light after a horrific disk crash!. I fixed the machine in two miserable days with dos command prompts, and promptly signed on to http://www!.carbonite!.com and did a full back up for the first time in years!.

At about $50 per year, it's cheaper than a zillion CDs or DVDs, won't burn up when your house catches on fire, and it's automatic!. And always stays current!.

One double density DVD will hold all of those!.

I cannot imagine how long and how much bandwidth you will use sending them off to someone you do not know and may be out of business in a few years!.

Just burn your own DVD's or CD's and put them some place safe!.

I keep three copies of my over 1 TB of images!. One is a "working copy", one is in a fireproof safe in my office and one is in my fireproof safe at home!. I make all three at the time I copy the images from my memory cards!.

BTW I have four 8GB memory cards and ten 4 GB cards!. I use them and then format them after the images have been saved to my computer and three DVD copies are made!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Using one of the sites listed is a good idea!. They keep their servers backed up to prevent loss!. A better alternative would be to rent your own server space!. Unless you're using dial-up, it will be cheap and faster than burning DVDs!.
I use two servers at different locations!. I also keep a copy on my primary computer and separate hard drives!. I used to use CDs and DVDs but they are the most unreliable storage media!. I use external hard drives and rotate them out to a safety deposit box at the bank!. A DVD in a home fire-proof safe is probably safe from fire but not heat, the bank is safe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your best bet is to order an external hard drive and keep it unplugged when not in use!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
