Question: Storing digital pictures!?
What do you do w/ the pics you've taken on your digital camera!? I hate keeping them on the memory card once I've printed them, but I want to keep them stored on something if I need a copy!. I also don't know that I want to have my computer hold all of them and take up space!. I've done CD's, but wondering if there is something better!? I do have a "Ritz Pix" account (through Wolf camera) that I can keep them on, which is nice, but I don't want to take the chance that something could happen w/ the site, and then I don't have my pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your best bet, because by the sounds of it, you have very little confidence in storage options!.!.!.would be to expand your options to many sources!. Check out all the online (free) storage sites, flickr!.com, photobucket!.com, even xdrive!.com, mediamax!.com, or box!.net for storing your files safely online!. With the photo upload sites, you can do multiple file upload so you don't have to spend time clicking on image browse buttons all day!. The other nice thing is that you can set privacy levels so that only you can see these images online!. Any one of those examples will do the trick!. Now, as far as this trust issue!.!.!.well!.!.!.you'll have to work that out over time!.!.!.but I guarantee, you will overcome! Good luck!

there is the easy option of copying them to your computer hard drive, which is done by opening "My Computer" on the desktop and then selecting your camera "removable disk", double click on this, select all of your pictures and right click on your mouse and press "cut", open "my documents" and select "my pictures" right click again and press "paste" - your pictures should move from your camera to your picture file!. Alternatively you could go to http://www!.flickr!.com and follow the directions to put them on, it works with your yahoo! account, the website won't crash, i can guaranteeWww@QuestionHome@Com

I know how you feel!. I don't like to keep my pictures on my memory card because my friends always look through them and somehow they might get deleted or my memory card will get full!. I don't like keeping them on my computer either because they are hard to sort, take up space, and who knows when your computer might crash and then you lose all your pictures!. I don't like CD's either because they are expensive, they don't hold a lot of pictures, and they are easy to lose!. I usually keep my pictures on my computer but I put my favorite pictures on http://flickr!.com I am not scared of losing my pictures with flickr because its a very well known and popular site and its owned by yahoo, and you can even pay for it!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your possibilities are:
1!. Computer Hard Disk Drive
2!. Website (Photobucket, etc!.)
3!. Optical Media (CD, DVD, BD)
4!. Memory Stick ( The USB Storage Devices)
5!. A different Memory Card
6!. If you're old school, you can store a few in a Floppy Drive!.

I would personally recommend your Hard Drive because pictures don't take up a lot of space!.

Hope this helps =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You could also save them onto a CD!.!.!.label each CD so they're nicely organized!.!.!.you would put the CD in your computer and open it like you were opening a document saved to a disc and your pictures are there!.!.!.I know WalMart!.!.!.Target and CVS will put the pictures on a CD for you if you don't know how to do it yourself!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

whatever u do, don't leave them on the computer without a backup CD!. I did that and my computer crashed and I lost so many pics and my ones from my once in a lifetime trip to the Grand Canyon!. I am just heart sick over it!. Cds take up very little storage space, put them on that and put them away!. I get mine at walgreens, do it myself and it only costs $2!.99 a cd!.LOL Me, always get those backups!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Saving a back up of all your images on a CD or DVD is the least expensive way to save them!. Put them in a safe place, like a fireproof safe!.

You can buy a 500GB external drive for your notebook or just add a 500GB drive to your desktop computer!.

Just remember that there are only two kinds of hard drives!. Those that have failed and those that are about to failWww@QuestionHome@Com

how many 'bad' photos do you keep!?
get rid of them to increase space on your hard drive!.
more shoots can be put on one burned cd that way too!.

there are sites available online that provide storage space!. these services are generally used by corporations that have massive storage requirements or a need for guaranteed backup and data loss prevention!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should invest in an external hard drive!. They're reasonably priced and it's like having twice as much memory!.

Storing them on CDs isn't a good idea because transferring the files over and over again can sometimes damage them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally I have a number of methods that keep my options flexible!.

I have a facebook page which I use to keep photographs of friends, or really good photos from client shoots that attract a lot if interest!. I also upload all finished photographs to flickr!.com, again so that I have a web-record that I can acccess from anywhere!.

The only problem with this is that I save these low-res so I have another back-up as well!. I haven't yet purchased an external hard-drive because I've found a much smaller and handier piece of kit - a half decommissioned iPod!. The phones socket doesn't work any more and as mine is a 30GB iPod I've got photos going back two or three years without coming close to filling 1 per cent of the total and these are saved as high-res files!.

I've previously labelled CDs and stored them safely but is such a hassle trying to search through them all for just one picture!.

The (video) link to converting an iPod for storage is here: http://www!.sutree!.com/how-to/7581/How-to!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
