Question: In the photography business, do looks matter!?
What I mean is, in allot of work places, such as an airport, there are strict dress codes!. You will not get hired if you have lip piercings, ear spacers, sometimes dress codes even prohibit any piercings!. There are other aspects of dress codes, obviously, but that's not what my question is about!.
I have my ears gauged to about 2 gauge and I would like to eventually become a photographer!. I am basically wondering if there is a certain "look" you need to have to be successful, and how things like piercings would affect me!.
By the way, not that is matters, but my ears are not gauged bigger than the actual size of my ear!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah - it should be no problem when it comes to creative fields!. Your portfolio should do all of the work when it comes to impressing your clientelle!.
How you dress, you still have a pretty good amount of leeway as well as long as some taste is observed!. Wear sensible shoes - you're going to be standing!.!.!. ALOT!. Really, as long as some common sense is used, you have alot of give when it comes to attire!. And remember, whatever you wear, pockets are your friends!. They can hold batteries, cards, film if you're using it!. Flash units, spare lenses!.!.!.
Most important to your choice is comfort!. Doing weddings and the like - your job's almost never over until the end of the day!. Ceremony, some families have open houses in the area so there, reception, all the way to the end!. COMFORT! I can't stress this enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
It all depends on what kind of photography you plan on doing!. What kind of clients you will have!. Weather you work for a company or work freelance!. And of course how good you are also will play an important part!.
There will always be people who will look at you differently then they would look at someone who doesn't have tattoos or piercings!. But in a creative field people look at you more about the work you can do then if you are wearing a suit and tie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Have you ever bothered to take the time to research famous photographers!?!? Obviously not (which btw, you should do that if you want to learn anything)!. Of course there is no dress code or rules for ear peircings! How ridiculous, and im SURE you already knew that!. Nope, not in that business!. You are in a creative field, so if you like to express your creativity through your personal style, I think that may even help you!. Most likely you will be known for your work itself!. You are not joining Corparate America where the company has strict dress codes!Www@QuestionHome@Com
An artist may have tattoos all over his / her body!. (Just don't overdo it)!. Unless you're going to the Windsor Castle to take photos of the Queen, I can't imagine any problems with an ear ring or two!.
