I think when done as a graffiti artist (such the canvases with graffiti you can buy in suburban Detroit), it is the ultimate expression of freedom of speech!. Graffiti is actually quite beautiful as an art form, and I would have one of those canvases if I could afford them!.

On public property, such as overpasses, I actually think it should be allowed as long as there is no physical danger in making it!. Perhaps it could be treated like the "Adopt a Road" program in many states, where graffiti artists could actually sign up to decorate the overpasses!.

However, one should always respect private property, and not put graffiti on houses, cars, or other personal property that is not their own!.

Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My point of view is that it doesn't matter how good the Graffiti is, if it's on somebody else's wall then it's criminal damage and the person who painted it without permission should be forced to scrub it off with a toothbrush!.

Graffiti makes an area feel unsafe, even if it is a fantastic artwork it has bad connotations such as crime and gangs!. You might be a great person, you might not hurt a fly, but if you tag a wall near me you make me feel threatened because I don't know if you are a gang banger or what!.

If you want to spray on something do it on a canvas and hang it on a wall, don't spray it around my neighborhood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

im a graff artist my self and I've been in city's and saw a lot of nice graffiti up on top on buildings and in alleys and on legal walls
the people who put there time in to doin this stuff are people who are committed to doing art with a can of paint
like people who do "WILD STYLE" graffiti are pretty damn good
cuz i c if u can make it look good and nice and bright that when people walk by and make them think wtf is that and so on!.
but most people who do graffiti are not on gangs or from the GHETTO people who do graffiti are just like any other people they just like to do "STREET ART" and FYI do not call people "TOYZ" cuz if u do u just a hater!.
good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's vandalism!. Anything that doesn't belong to you doesn't give you the right to desecrate it, no matter how much you view it as beautiful art work!. That's what graffiti is!. Architects and building designers are in their own way artists too who invest allot of time, money and THOUGHT to construct their architecture!. In-fact, look up Frank Loyd Wright on Wikepedia and read his story!. I'd bet you'd change your perspective about graffiti!. If someone who owns the building wants to commission you to paint your work on his or her walls, then by all rights, you've earned that right!.
I'm an artist myself and don't particularly care for that style or genre of art, but there's ways to constructively take your style of art to a higher positive level!. I knew a guy in college who grew up in the ghettos of East L!.A!. a long time ago, and he did prison time as a tagger!. After his release, his parole officer coaxed him into going to school which is where I met him!. He ended up honing in a really unique style which he was very comfortable with!. Pretty amazing artwork actually!. Scenes that depicted the struggles and triumphs in the Big City!. He became pretty well known and you can see his work all over buildings and freeway overpasses in Down Town!. And the city pays him to do it!.
That's my point of view!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The graffiti which is just some ones name with no art to it, I guess you would call it tagging is just annoying and boring, but if you get a good artist and they "transform" the side of a building and its something that is actual art and it took some time and experience I am all for it, There is something about the Dangerous artist!. Now if some one did there name in a artistic form and with color it nice to look at for a while but it later just becomes boring and then it falls into the tagging category!. The ones who have true talent and does actual art, I have allot of respect for!. Yeah sure the building owner or the police may not like it but I would at least appreciate it and I would hope they would take there time cleaning it up anyhow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe it is very expressive, my dad works in a train yard and he is always taking pictures and sending them to me on his cell, and on the side note, train cars travel, so your art moves!. But when people use profanity or something provacative like symbols that piss people off thats were the popularity goes down!. If someone was to spraypaint my car with a really nice picture, I'd keep it on there for a while otherwise I'd track down the person!. Art should be kept as something nice, so as long as you keep it that way, graffiti can be a sweet deal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i feel graffiti is a beautiful form of art!.!.!. but it has no place on a canvas you didn't pay for

i think some graffiti out there belongs in museums, and it is a shame that it is instead being scrubbed off the side of an overpass

also, people need to understand the difference between graffiti and gang-tags!. once the criminal element is removed, i think it would be more widely acceptedWww@QuestionHome@Com

well theres a difference bettween street art and graffiti as long as the school knows that ur doing it for a project they shouldnt judge
my personal view on graffiti is i dont mind the art but my old house got graffitied one night and we spent lots of money to re-paint and crapp so as long as its not on ppls propity i dont mind

OMG Its so beautiful, its really a work of art!. It takes great skill to do, people think its trash but its really hard!. IF its good!. sometimes its just scribbly garbage!. But every once and a while you see that piece that is just!.!.!.!. Breath Taking!. Oh there is a video from youtube of a guy doing art litterally with spray paint!.

http://youtube!.com/watch!?v=7lVgwoK6cMY

See that is spray paint!. ITS FABULOUS! Come on! Its an art! Its great!. Street graffiti is so good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think its really beautiful and enriches the community if done somewhere that isn't being used - and in these cases, its wonderful to see free public local art work!. If its sloppy, derogatory, or simply uninspired, and if its on a bus or on someone's business I feel like it makes the community look trashy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that graffiti is only a crime if done on public property where it is ofending
If for say u where to spray paint "jesus love us all"
on the wall i dont think people would mind as much as if u had said "jesus is gonna come down and kill us all in a pool of blood"
Its all down to the specific caseWww@QuestionHome@Com

i think it is pretty where appropriate!.
it is bad when people destroy property with it (eg!. tagging train windows, school building etc)
i think if its on the side of a wall or boring building its fine as long as it isn't offencive or rude!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When it is used as vandalism I have no respect fo it at all!.

When it is done well in a place that is not illegal, it's neat to look at and there are talented people out there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i cant stand to look at it unless its been payed for by the oner on witch it is painted and i used to live in la it reminds me of drug dealers and gangsters who destroy public property!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to like it, then I bought a house south side minneapolis, now I don't really like it anymore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think graffitti is a form of art and see nothing wrong with it!. as long as your not doing it on someone else's property (or the governments)Www@QuestionHome@Com
