You need a kiln to heat actual non-air dry, non-oven bake clay!. This process of heating clay to form pottery is called firing!.

Check the type of clay that you used!. You may just need to let it sit for a few days to harden!. If not, you can use enamel-based paints to lacquer it and then use a varnish to seal it, however it will not be water-proof!. Do not use this as a vase!.

Try sculpey or any type of air-dry clay available at a craft store!. Some work very well for small things, however you must use a stone-wear based clay for creating pottery that you can use!.

Kilns vary in temperature, but just to give you an idea - your oven most likely goes up to Broil, a setting roughly 550 degrees Fahrenheit!. Most kilns need to fire clay for pottery at temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You would be better off putting the pot in a bonfire!. The oven won't get hot enough!. The BBQ, might, if you put in a BUNCH of charcoal!. However, the charcoal may discolor the clay!. But that may be cool!. The pot needs to get RED hot to fully harden, and then slowly cool!. If you put it in the BBQ!. Light the coals, let them get white hot, put the pot in them, and cover it up with the coals!. Don't dig around in the coals, and let them cool off over night, with the pot in them!. This will allow the pot to cool gradually!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the oven wont work, it might turn it harder but it will not turn it to stone!. there is a type of clay (cant remember name) that you can heat in the oven therefore you should try that one better!. he clay is a little different texture wise but it can be used the same way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
