Never take pictures of your subject straight on!. Use what is called the 1/3 method!. Perfectly centered subjects are what are called snap shots and anyone with a camera can take those kind of pictures!. What I'm saying is focus your subject with your camera centered if your using an auto focus camera and once subject or object is locked in move the camera slight or 1/3 off center and take the picture!. Don't take pictures all the time with the camera horizontal sometimes the picture is much better when you shoot the picture vertically!. This will narrow the view of the subject and possibly remove some of the clutter around the subject!. Which brings me to the subject "clutter" Don't let your subject get swallowed up by the surrounds!. Keep your subjects background as free of surround objects as you can!. Telling a story with your picture "what are you trying to say about the subject!?" When you select a subject think about what kind of story you want to say about the subject your going to photography!. Let's say your taking a picture of a homeless person what do you want to say about this person!? Do you merely want to just say gee this person has a rough life!? Do you want to show how horrible it is to be homeless!? Perhaps you only want to show how life has withered this person way!? Say you want to show more of how rough life out on the street is for him!? Then you might not only want the subject in the shot but perhaps the dirty surrounds around him!. You might want to show the humanity side of this homeless person!? You might want to show that even though he's down and out he's still willing to share a piece of his sandwich with a pigeon or dog!. Like I said a good picture should tell a story and make a person stop and think for a second about what story your trying to send to them get it!? This is what makes an average boring snap shot a great picture!. One more thing you should learn about photography is taking pictures of people!. Look closely at the person's face!. Why you might ask!? Most people have a rounded side to their face and a flatter side!. At first you might have never noticed this before but after paying close attention you will start to pick this up!. Now when you noticed this always take the picture from the more rounded side of the face it will improve the picture dramatically!. I've had people tell me that they have never had a good picture taken of them but after using this method of picture taking they are usually always pleased with the results!. One more thing before I quit typing and it has to do with a person with a large nose!. Most people with a large nose hate the way it looks in a picture!. Because pictures seem to bring out the large nose even more when taken directly on!. Move your camera so it's slightly lower than the subject and you shooting slightly upwards!. I'm not saying get so low that your shooting up their nose! Just move slightly lower!. This method will reduce the appearance of the person having such a large nose and make the subject much more happier!. I hope I gave you enough help here without me having to write an entire book!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

To make your photos look more interesting, take more interesting photos!. Sounds simple, right!? Well it is!. Look for angles that naturally compliment your subject, shoot in locations that feature good, diffuse natural light and use a large aperture (small f/number like f/3!.5 or f/4) in aperture priority auto exposure mode - giving you more control over depth of field allowing you to isolate your subject from it's environment!. Stay away from settings where there is high contrast between hightlights (brightest areas) and shadows (darker areas), and bring something within your composition that can show your subject's scale and perspective with its environment!. More than "things" that can make your photo more interesting, you should consider your eye!. Look for more interesting photos before you capture them!. That kind of thing can't be taught, it requires attention to detail, creativity, and your imagination!.

My opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd have to say that tricks and props don't make your photography more interesting!. Neither does software!.

What makes good photographs interesting and entertaining to look at is the imagination, creativity and sense of curiosity you bring to the picture in the first place!.

In other words, be creative with your composition, lighting and subject matter!. Then you won't necessarily need props or software!.

And, no, you don't need a fancy or expensive camera to do it!.

Challenge yourself to think before every shot: How could I make this more interesting!? How would the lighting look better or more interesting!? What if I turned the camera this way or that way !.!.!. or laid on my back and shot straight up at the sky !.!.!. or zoomed in really tight on that tiny bug !.!.!. or whatever!. (Or asked my friend NOT to flash a peace sign and make "fish lips" so that I might make a photo that shows how "really" beautiful she is!.)

I know it's hard to believe in this day of instant digital images, and the ability to shoot thousands of shots !.!.!. but there was a time when photography might have been all about taking an entire day to wait until the light was just perfect!. Then shooting ONE image! Or maybe just a few!.

I love shooting digital and having the ability to shoot as much as I want!. But sometimes I like to slow down and take my time, and just determine to shoot maybe five or ten images in a day !.!.!. but make them the absolute best I can!.

I hope some of this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I find that the best phots are taken by people who 'feel' it!. Wheither it's your family, doga, car, friends or whatever take pictures of things you like!. Not what you think others will like!. Then as you get more confident you can take those posed or requested photos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
