Question: Which places have benefited the most from the presence of artists and why!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Antibes, France in the 1920s, Greenwich Village in NYC in the 1970s-80s and Hoboken New Jersey which is still on the rise!.
Artists move into an area because rents are cheap and space is available for them to use as a studio!. Their bohemian lifestyle is attractive to trendy people and their unique lifestyle needs make an area reinvent itself!. As a result, people move into thed area and bring with them their money and revitilization occurs naturally!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Places with little social, cultural or entertainment-based initiatives and drive have benefitted the most from artists by securing and promoting them as a key element in economic development!.

There are huge number of these areas, one most notable to me is Northampton, Massachusetts!. Prior to working on promoting their area as an arts district, it was your average outskirt of a mildly large city that had nothing to offer those living or working there!.

Artists, visionaries, promoters, culture-based organizations, chefs, designers, musicians and others work for a common goal and each provide the necessary fabric for which a strong community (that will thrive both short and long term) needs!. A place where people will live, work, visit and spend money!. Keeping the money local benefits everyone in the micro-economic area!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
