Question: Hey guys!. Question about licenses for selling my artwork!.!?
Hey!. So this may sound like a really stupid question but I need to know!. I'm 15 years old and am a spray paint artist (not graffiti)!. Anyways, I was wondering
a) what licenses I need to set up on a local (public) beach one day and paint and sell my work
b) where/ how to get those licenses
c) if there is anyway it could backfire on me eg!. lawsuits, polution, people nagging me, all that tedious crap!. Rather be safe than sorry!.
also, I would have my mom or sister, who's 19, there the whole time!.
Thanks in advance for ANY answers I get!. Peace!Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off, congrats to you for thinking ahead!. You sound like you've got your head in the right place!.

Since you're under age either your mom or sister would have to get the license for you!. If you contact the city offices where the beach is they might be able to help you!. (I say might because you will find working with different agencies can be a long drawn out process sending you from one office to the next only to wind up where you started!.) Probably what you'll need is a vendor license!. You might also want to check and see if you need a tax license as well!. Since what you are doing is done on a job to job basis you made not need one!. (Like a caricature artist doesn't charge tax just a flat rate!.)

If you know where you want to set up you may want to go and talk to any businesses in the area and talk to them and tell them what you want to do even before getting a license and if they don't have a problem with it see if you can get it in writing!. That way when you go for your paperwork you'll not only show the powers that be that it's a welcomed idea but also that you're serious about what it is you want to do and have done some leg work to prove it!. No offense but they're just going to look at you as a kid so the more you can prove yourself the better off you are!.

Even though you're doing this on your own I don't know and it may not apply but you might also check and see if you'll need work papers as well!. If the issue was ever raised because of your age you'd have documentation to say that yes you can be out here doing this for hours on end!. Might need it , might not!.

Get a hold of your local EPA and find out what you would have to do about environmental concerns!. Drop cloths, maybe a portable booth whatever!. Do this also before going to the city!. If they tell you you'll need specific things get them and take the receipts with you when you go for your license as well as any paperwork they may give you!.

Hope this helps!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to get a state sales license in whatever state you're selling in!. Unfortunately, you have to be 18 to get one in most states!. This is so you'll pay taxes (that you charge your customers)!. Here's a link for more information: http://www!.aicpa!.org/yellow/yptstax!.htm

You also need to get permission from the owners of the beach (usually city or county)!. That can be expensive!.

In conclusion, you should sell at www!.etsy!.com!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
