Question: I want to go to school for photography!?
I would love to go to school for photography and I think it is realistic to say that I have somewhat of a gift in photography!.

The problem is, I am generally not artistic!. I can not draw, paint, or sculpt!.

The only visual art I am somewhat skilled in is photography!.

Do they have universities that teach that sort of thing without me having to take classes for other visual arts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am currently an art student and I am majoring in two fields that do not require me to do hands on art: Art Management and Curatorial Studies!. Even though I am not majoring in the "hands on" visual arts, I still am required to take all the visual arts courses (drawing, painting, and other 2-d and 3-d courses) My advice to you is that even though you may not feel that you need to learn about the other areas, or that you are not skilled in them, in the long run they will really help you take even better photos by having the understanding of things like plane, line, how to create depth, and even how to sketch out your ideas on paper before finding and/or creating the perfect image!. All the visual arts run together as far as the idea and thought process go!. Your choice of medium is the only difference!.

What do you have to lose!? You only have things to gain!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You will probably have to take basic core visual arts classes no matter what university you attend!. If you chose an Art institute, the pressure to do FABULOUS in all classes, not just photography, will be greater!. Don't sweat a public university!. Many will grade you on your effort and not so much your artistic ability!. After all, there are many art history majors who love art, but don't DO art; They are also required to take studio courses!.

Just place your focus on photography!. The experience of all mediums will improve you ability to see through the lens the way you never have before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a friend that became a professional photographer, and he is not creative in other arts!. You take photography at art schools, and yes, they will teach you the techniques in photography, and I do not believe you will need to learn other arts, unless it helps you achieve what you need in photography!. you should ask your school counselor for help in this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most art schools, even though they focus on photography, will probably make you take other art classes!. You don't neccessarily have to be brilliant in drawing and such but it will help you create better compositions in your photography!. I, myself, am a photographer and drawing/painting certainly give you an edge over others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you can take courses in photography at a community college, and they would likely point you in the direction you wish to go as far as universitys go!.
i think universities are over rated and com colleges are terribly underrated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
