I think right after Runaissance era, nude paintings were a kind of entertainment of "Love & Sex story" for Royals or noble people!. In Renaissance, nudity might be considered idealism n perfectness of human body as holy person or God in Bible!. The Greeks idealized the human body because they were the first humanists!. Even their gods were very human in behavior!. They also were among the first civilization to really attempt a naturalistic representation of the human body!. In the Renaissance in Europe, there was a renewed interest in Greek thought and art, therefore, there was a renewed interest in nudity in art!. And the ability to render the human body became the benchmark by which the powers of the artist was judged!. Still life painting and landscape painting were sub-genres for a very long time, looked down upon as less-than-worthy subjects for the artist's attention and effort!.
