Question: Do you still like film camera better than digital camera!?
and why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a 37 year (and counting) love affair with my Minolta 35mm film cameras!. Switching is not an option for me!. I look at a scene, try 2 or 3 different compositions, make the exposure and I know I have it!. I don't need 15 different "Scene Modes" - my eyes and brain are quite sufficient!.

I get a chuckle out of people who claim that "!.!.!. only a few pictures turn out with film!.!.!." Well I've never gone 36 for 36 but I've gone as high as 35 for 36!. Of course, I'm not shooting wildly!. I'm methodical and discriminating as to what I commit to a frame of film!.

I also get a good laugh out of those who suggest just shooting madly with a digital camera!. Why its so desirable to take 200-300 pictures and get 20 or 30 worth keeping escapes me!. I suppose people like sitting at their computer looking at lousy image after lousy image hoping to find a good one!. Or using an editing program to attempt to make an average picture from a mediocre one!.

Use what you enjoy and don't try to convert us dedicated film users!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah I understand where all of you are coming from!. If I could choose both, I would!.

Film is great because it's much better quality because it doesn't involve MP's and the process of converting it to digital, but it's the simple and perfect process of taking what's seen, onto an extremely light sensitive film!. Giving you way better pictures!. There's the downfall of having only 36 shots and less depending on the film, when you can hold a thousand photos on a single CF card!. I love being able to go out and see all of the pictures, you just end up with an enormous amount of shots!. In the end, if you're going for quality, I'd go for the manual SLR because you really learn about your camera and photography!. But if you're going on a long trip and you want to get a ton of pictures in, I'd grab your digital!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I do perfer film to digital!. I like the process of using film!. The tonality of black and white film simply can not be beat!. Not to mention that the experience of seeing the print of the frame that I carefully composed, exposed, and developed slowly fade into existance in the developer is an amazingly wonderful experience!.

I even use the old Polaroid LandCameras (I have a LandCamera 210, 215, 230, and 440), and I've used Type 669 until late for emulsion lifts!. Thankfully Fuji has a pack film that works with Type 669 style cameras!. The Fuji's pack film even works with emulsion lifts, which is a medium that digital can not even touch the possibilities of!.

I agree with Edwin - use what you enjoy and don't try to convert!. It just makes you seem at best, arrogant, and at worst, misinformed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My current camera is an old Minolta XG-1 film camera which has about a thousand and twelve settings and takes beautiful pictures when used propery!. Obviously with a digital camera you can see the photograph you've taken instantly and you can print them straight out at home, and I do have a fairly decent digital camera which I sometimes use for convenience, but my Minolta takes much better pictures and is a joy to use!.

Until recently, I would have chosen my Minolta over any digital camera without hesitation, but I saw a beautiful (and expensive) DIGITAL Minolta camera in my local camera shop!. It was like the latest model of my film one - the upgrade you always have to get!. That camera convinced me that as soon as I have enough money I'll be happy to switch to the world of digital photography 100%Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree 100% with Edwin!.

The direct frames/dollar relationship forces me to carefully contemplate each shot!. I definitely get a high percentage of "keepers" with film!.

Medium format is even better for this, as the per roll cost is nearly the same(about $3 less per roll, including processing), but with 1/3 the number of frames per roll!.

I'm not switching from film any time soon!. I know, and like, the results I get from the film stock I use!. There's no way that I could ever afford to replicate my Canon FD manual focus system, including 5 bodies and lenses from 20mm through 400mm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No no no!. I love digital!. Of course there is the instant gratification of being able to download your pictures and see them immediately but the biggest benefit to me, is the ability to take hundreds of pictures and then just pick the good ones and delete the rest!.

I'm an artist and I do a lot of wildlife drawing so when I go out into nature or into an animal park or even the zoo I can completely fill up a 2 GB memory card and when I get home, I'm bound to have at least a handful of photo references that I can work from!.

i personally love both!. developing your own film and making prints is like no other, but digital does have more options to it!. large memory cards, photoshop, and the pictures readily available and being able to decide what photos you want to make into prints!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no, I find that film cameras you cant take quite soo many pics!. and only a few of them turn out just the way you want it too!.!.!.so I have my digital camera with like 2 momory cards, soo if I use up one, I can put the other one in b4 I download the pics!. and I can choose which ones I print!.!.!.!.!.that way I have less pictures floating around the house! :)
+I dont have to spend all the money on film!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No because I love downloading my pictures on the computer and printing them!. Digitals are also more worth the money, even though it's hard to pick out a good one that isn't too expensive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No I do not, I like being able to see my picture right away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
