Question: Is this appropriate pricing for my art!?
Is this appropriate pricing for my art!?

I do acrylic paintings on canvas, all abstract and full of color!. I love to put my moods and feelings on canvas, and I have friends who want me to paint art for their homes!.

Anyways, I have never sold them before but I am thinking what the heck, it could be fun- now, is this appropriate pricing!?

I plan to take the cost of the canvas and paint materials for each painting, and then times that by two!. So a painting that cost me $30 to create will sell for $60!.

Is this too high!? I know that I can change my prices depending on demand and how they are recieved at the craft fairs, ect- but to start out with, is this fair!?

TIA!Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is a fair price, but I think it is too low!. But that depends on many factors!. Figure a gallery price of one hundred twenty, because a gallery might charge you half, which would mean you would get sixty!.

Abstract paintings are going to be hard to sell at craft shows!. Usually, paintings on canvas are considered fine art!. Craft shows attract people whom buy crafty items!. You might try an art and craft show or festival!. Then you would be in with various types and levels of artists!. These types of events attract both fine art and craft peoples!. Juried shows are better to get into than non-juried!.

Good luck!.

Well, you have to think a little further than this!. It seem like that you're new to painting, and so do I(no offense)!. I've heard that you should price your painting by hours of work, paints, canvas, electricity(light & fan), etc!.
For instance:
Paints: $10
Canvas: $7
Electricity: $10
Hours: $8!.50x8

Well, that painting would cost about hmmm!.!.!.!.!.!.$95!. It's fair!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like a reasonable price for me, if you find they are selling well then you can raise the priceWww@QuestionHome@Com
