Question: New to having a DSLR!.!.!. please help!?
So I recently posted a question on here about using my telephoto lens and how a lot of my photographs still didn't seem as sharp as they should be!. Here's the details, I'm using a Canon Rebel XT, and using a 55-200 Promaster telephoto lens!. I've done the suggested and use the tripod, but something tells me that my photo's still aren't as sharp as they could be!. Please examine the photograph and tell me what you think on clarity!. I didn't take a picture of anything in particular so please don't critique me on it, just using it as an example!.!.!. Notice how the plans in the background don't seem sharp at all!. also, if you think it's user error please suggest what I could do differently!.

Thanks again!

What's in focus is sharp as a tack!.!.!.telephotos have less depth of field, so if you wanted it all sharp you'd need a smaller aperture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It doesn't look as badly as I had imagined it!. Whatever is in focus, like he said, is fairly sharp, and the rest (which is out of focus because the depth of field is fairly "thin" at that focal length) is what it should look like!.

The only thing now I can think of is less expensive lenses seem to have lower contrast!.

Above is the Canon 100-400 mm f 4!.5-5!.6!.

You can see the main subject is in focus, but the background is bit blurry!.

For wide angle lens, you can get just about anything in focus, like this one:

and so on!.
